Hossain!
Shahadat, a Ph.D. student in civil engineering at UBCO, has recently been awarded a scholarship for
graduate study in transportation by the Canadian Transportation Research Forum (CTRF). Sponsored by
Transport Canada, this prestigious scholarship is given to outstanding candidates whose research
contributes to areas such as transportation economics, efficiency and competitiveness, safety and security,
and sustainability.
Under the guidance of Dr. Fatmi at the UiTR Lab, Shahadat is currently working on developing vehicle
ownership models to understand households’ vehicular preferences and the evolution of vehicle
ownership in the Okanagan region. The insights gained from his research will assist policymakers in
making informed decisions that promote the adoption of safer and more sustainable vehicles.
